Handler, who was then 21 years of age was able to concentrate on stand-up comedy as a full-time occupation after discovering her storytelling skills. Handler started her career by joining the only female Oxygen group, who starred in a TV show known as Girls Behaving BADLY. This series was known for its hidden camera and humorous jokes. This reality show ran from 2002-2005. Handler began appearing on other TV shows, such as Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was hired for The Tonight Show as a correspondent. Handler made her breakthrough in 2006 when she started hosting her own show on E! The Chelsea Handler Program. The show lasted for two seasons. Handler was a performer at The Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States the year after. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all broadcasted her stand-up comedy shows. In 2010 she hosted the MTV Video Music Awards 2010 were made public. In doing so, she was the second female host to be announced after Roseanne.
